Seven Wonders of the World

1. Taj Mahal, India

Saikro jhopria girti hain tab ek raj mahal banta hai,

Thats a shayar's perspective but the truth is The most beautiful mausoleum on Earth "The Taj Mahal" ordered to build by "Emperor Shahjahan", in memory of his wife "Queen Mumtaz Mahal", stands proud as one of the seven wonders of the world today !!

2. The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall was originally built in the Spring, Autumn, and Warring States Periods as a defensive fortification by the three states: Yan, Zhao and Qin. The Great Wall went through constant extensions and repairs in later dynasties. It began as independent walls for diff. states when it was first built, and later joined together to fend off the invasions from the Huns in the north after the unification of China. Since then, the Great Wall has served as a monument of the Chinese nation throughout history.

3. The Roman Colloseum, Italy

Wow, thats a real beautiful place to see. I have real good memories attached to this place in Rome, Italy. I went there with him as my first international trip and it rained. It was all so romantic. And if I trust what I have seen in movie Gladiator then I must say this place has witnessed very dreadful acts of humanity, the human fights till dead/win.

4. Brazil's Statue of Christ Redeemer

Statue of Christ is a large religious monument in Brazil opened in July 1931. The fact that makes me happy is that its building stone was taken from Malmo in Sweden. And I feel good to hear the name Malmo because I have been there a no. of times and feel attached to the place :)

5. Peru's Machu Picchu

The Royal Tomb, a cave-like area contains ceremonial niches and an Inca cross carved from one wall and is adjacent to the Temple of the Sun. The cross resembles a series of steps, and represents the three levels of existence in the world of the Inca.

The first step, symbolized by the snake, represents the underworld or death. The second step represents the present, human life, and is symbolized by the jaguar. The highest step represents the celestial/spiritual plane of the gods, and is symbolized by the condor.

6. Mexico's Chichen Itza pyramid

The "Chich'en Itza" is a spanish name that means "At the mouth of the well of the Itza ". The site contains many fine stone buildings in various states of preservation; the buildings were formerly used as temples, palaces, stages, markets, baths, and ballcourts.

7. Jordan's Petra

It is famous for having many stone structures carved into the rock. The long-hidden site was revealed to the Western world by a Swiss explorer in 1812. It was famously described as "a rose-red city half as old as time"

Growing together :)

Sitting in sun, the old lady tries her best to feed her little granddaughter but she is not ready to eat anything.

The old lady says "chhetti khaa lai kuriye, koa aayega te teri roti lai jayega"
(--eat fast or the crow ll come and take your food).

The little girl, sees in the old lady's eyes, tries to hold The old lady's face with her small hands and tells her with a maturity in her voice "Dadi Maa, isko Koa ni kehte, isko Crow kehte hain"
(--grand ma, this is not called as Koa but Crow).

The old lady tells her, "Bete, Isko, english mei crow kehte hain aur hindi mei Koa.
(--In English it is called as Crow and In Hindi we call it Koa)

She says "English..Hindi.. Mmm..Thennnnnn..Dadi Ma, To Isko Maths mei kya kehte hain?
(--what do we call it in Maths?")

The old lady thinks for a moment and then reply "agar ek koa to, One crow, agar do koe to Two crows, aur agar teen koe to Three crows.."
(--In Maths, we call it One crow, and if there are two, we call them Two crows and if there are three, we call them Three crows..)

And together they repeat the counts:

And unknowingly, she finishes her food and I see all this smilingly:)

Another beautiful morning !!

I wake up with the sound of rain drops over the window panes. It doesn't happen quite often that someone can wake me up when I am sound asleep but the voice of rain drops is something which I loved since my childhood and so just cant ignore it.

I step down the bed and try to peep out of the window at the sky. It is lightening gloriously. I can hear the thundering of clouds. I carefully put the curtain off without making a sound, take my hands out and embrace the rain. And it makes me forget everything and be relaxed. I think thats what true love is all about, I love Rain and miss her a lot. I think she also misses me the same way I do and has come to meet me here crossing half the world.
The room is already filled with dim light coming from outside street lamp. Taking the pure drops in my hand, I turn to my bed. And I see him lying aside. He is in sound sleep. Still putting one arm at the left side (and thats for me). Looking so calm and happy. I start moving my fingers in his hair. My heart fills with love, happiness and completeness. Today, I remember almost each day spent with him. I remember all these days of my life for the ever increasing love he has given me and for the respect he has earned to me.

And yes just then I get reminded of his recent gift to me, a new member of the family who is lying in Patio in this rain..aahhh...Its my recently owned, supposedly hot n spicy, Chilly Plant. I almost run to my Patio and get it inside. With the water droplets on its leaves and small white flowers its looking awesome.

I dont know if it was actually enjoying the rain and is sad to be in. I see there is one small chilly trying to come out uncovering a flower. Its almost 3 days that I forgot to pay any attention to it coz of dead tiring working hours. And I think its my imagination that it is complaining to me for not showing any affection and care to it. I bring it to the wash vasin and sprinkle some water drops on it and clean every leaf with my hands and kiss it. I carefully put it back on a mat at the centre of dining table.

I make two cups of ginger tea to wake him up...

And I wish him "Good Morning" this time..:)

Its Life !!

He kisses my forehead to wake me up. With quite unease I open up my eyes and look into his. He is smiling and with so much of love he wishes "Good Morning !!" I dont know if I reply to him as this is the most difficult time of my daily routine and he knows it. I get up, freshen up myself and go straight to the kitchen to cook for our breakfast and lunch and he helps.

He continues saying his daily special :) You keep one eye on the watch and keep alarming me. I need to leave by 7:10. hey how come its already 7:11 oh 7:12..I am not going to look at this clock..whenever I see at it it just increases a minute..I 'll have to run..ok bye..cya..have good day..n He leaves ..

n He comes back..hey suno.. He hugs me kisses me n runs again..ok bye..have good day.. stay happy..take care of u. .n listen dont trouble anyone... he keeps saying something or else n runs n I smile n stand there seeing him !

And then I am only with myself. Like every other morning I am into deep thinking mode, do I really need to goto office today. Ok, I will, but let me first relax. I tell to myself, I am not gonna let this job become my life. Its just a small part of my life and let it be just that, I am not gonna rush for it. If today I die, I cant even complain to God that why my life was wasted only in studying and then working. God is also gonna tell me that its your fault. I made you a girl and had given you a guy who was supposed to support you forever. Its you who opted to do all this. You yourself wasted it. I am not responsible .. Oh God..God is so true..!

I relax and decide today is gonna be My day. I goto kitchen and nicely prepare one small cup of tea with ginger/cardamom. Take the newspaper in my hand and sit on the carpet. Enjoy sipping the tea with some snacks and read the paper. Then I call my mom or my didi and then talk to them at length. And they keep reminding me that it is Monday not Saturday. And I tell to myself I am gonna win over this Monday morning.

I look at the clock and shiii.. its 9:00am. I tell to her whatever you show, I am not gonna get scared; atleast not today, why do u always keep bothering me.

I board the train look at the morning snoring faces and then listen to my favis on Ipod.

Reaches office n now hands over all my control to my manager. I am at her disposal for next 8 hours.

6:30 pm I board the train back to my home, sweet home. Waiting to meet him in mid stop. After lot of communication and co-ordination finally we get to meet at just one stop b4 our home, just to spend 5 more minutes together during the day. We finally meet and then I enjoy entering home with him together.

He prepares tea and I keep talking without stop. And he comes and put his hand on my mouth with full force. And I mm mm..mmmmmmmm.......means Ok, I will stop now :)

Then we goto Gym. I make fun there while doing exercise and he simply hates it. I dont know why he become so serious while working out. And I really dont like to leave humour at any place. Then fully tired, I come home and rest and he goes for swimming. Hats off to him !

I cook and he tries his best to help me and we eat together.

And then I again start, you see we have wasted the whole day...what have we done since the morning. its already 11pm. now we will sleep and tomrw again office. I dont want us to waste our lives like this. Come on we will watch some movie together or play mario or we will make some mithai or something. And he is more than willing for this. And we have fun and sleep late night or shud say early morning.

And life continues..happily !

Seems a very simple regular post. Yeah I knew it and so I thought of adding some nice quotations. I opened Google, wrote "Life Quoatations" followed some link and then the first Quote:

"Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep. "

WHaaaaaaaaaaaat.. what non-sense.

Means Kanda ..Oh God..Is life like an Onion. I just hate Onions..I can never let my life be like an Onion :(

Anne Frank's Diary

Anne Frank, born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany is the second daughter of Otto Frank. The family is Jewish and German. The Franks have lived in Germany for centuries.

It is a carefree period for Margot and Anne. They have many friends in the neighbor-hood where they live. However, their parents are worried. Adolf Hitler, becomes the Chancellor and is responsible for the new government. Before very long, there is discrimination against Jews. Germany changes from a democracy into a dictatorship. Anne’s parents no longer feel safe and decide to leave Germany.

Franks go to the Netherlands in the summer of 1933 and set up a company in Amsterdam. The Frank Family feels free and safe, until the German Army invades the Netherlands on May 10, 1940.

(Anne with elder sister Margot)
The discrimination against the Jews begins there as well. Jews may not own their own businesses, Jewish children have to go to Jewish schools, all Jews have to wear a yellow star, and countless other restrictions. There are even rumors that the Jews will be packed off to Germany…

On June 12, 1942, Anne Frank celebrates her 13th birthday. She receives a diary as a present. It is her favorite gift. She begins writing in it immediately: “I hope I will be able to confide everything to you…and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.”

Margot Frank receives a call-up on July 5, 1942. The Nazis plan to send the people they have summoned to work camps in Germany.

Her parents have expected such a call-up: the secret hiding place is almost ready. Not only for their own family, but also for the Van Pels family. The Frank family immediately leaves for the hiding place. Naturally, Anne brings her diary. Much later, she will look back and write: “My happy-go-lucky, carefree school days are gone forever.”

The hiding place is located in an empty section of the building owned by Otto Frank's company. While business continues, as usual, in the front part of the building, there are people hiding in the annex out back.

(Secret Annexe)

The people in hiding are helped by Otto Frank’s four employees. They arrange the food supplies, clothing, books, and all sorts of other necessities. In addition, they keep the people in hiding up-to-date with the news from Amsterdam.

The people in hiding pass their time by reading and studying. As expected, they follow the news closely. There is a lot of tension. They often quarrel among themselves. Anne pours out her heart to her diary: “The nicest part is being able to write down all my thoughts and feelings, otherwise I'd absolutely suffocate.”

The state of affairs in the city is frequently discussed. Jews who do not turn themselves in are picked up and sent to the transit camp in Westerbork. Anne writes in her diary: We assume that most of them are being murdered. The English radio says they're being gassed. Perhaps that's the quickest way to die. I feel terrible.”

Friday, August 4, 1944, is a day like any other day. The people in hiding are quietly going about their business. Suddenly, out front, a vehicle comes to a halt. Out jumps an SS-officer and three Dutch policeman. They enter the building and go directly to the office. The people in hiding have been betrayed…

(Camp Bergen-Belsen)

The people in hiding and the two male helpers are arrested and taken for interrogation to a jail run by the Germans. Other two helpers are left behind on the Prinsengracht. They rescue Anne Frank's diary papers.

In her diary Anne Frank offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman. During one of our Europe trips, we visited Amsterdam. One among the most popular places we visited there is "Anne Frank's Museum". Its the secret Annexe where Anne spent her last years. Thats where I got the motivation to read Anne's diary. After reading the diary which is really heart touching, I feel Anne's death is an individual loss.

Week Day Movies

Yoh.. finally the week ends today..and I am all set to enjoy the cherished week end !! After so many cribbing sessions during the week, I suddenly start feeling so charged on Friday Evening (yes, like all of u).

Project release to UAT gave me enough time to relax. We got to see 3 movies during week days. Yes 3 movies and lots of time spent with him, that is what makes me feel that I am not just born to work with Wells Fargo.

Okay, the movies were : Shootout @ LA, Metro and Cheeni Kam

And I didnt like any of these much. But, the 3 were good enough to spice the routine of cook, eat n sleep.

a. Shootout @ LA

Vivek Oberoi (sorry, I dont recall his new spelling) quite good. First time I liked him was in COMPANY and now in this movie. Difficult to write this "like" word for him as I am die heart Salman fan.

Sanjay Dutt oo LA LA..I wish he soon gets as old as he seems in the movie..then he will look even better.

Amitabh, Arabaz, Sunil Shetty and the change: Ok !

And that Girl Oh God, I wish Director 'd have let Rakhi Sawant to perform a number than her.

Mika sang very good. He being from my native may bias my opinion.

OR : Ok

b. Cheeni Kam

Little Girl **** (Swini) and the old woman (Zohra Sehgal) - Excellent.

Big B - Good

Tabbu - The BEST and I really liked the dresses she wore. The patterns were quite unique. South Silk plain fabrics with Delhi kinda Laces. But of course the colors chosen were quite good. And then no need to mention that she is a brilliant actress

And finally instead of Amitabh trying it, I am not at all convinced with a frustated 65 yrs. old man marrying with 34 yrs. charming girl.

Dialog : Dont cry for the ones you love, your love will decrease. You see, if you dont cry, your heart feels heavy. And if you do, your heart feels light coz the love flows out with your tears.

OR : Ok+

c. Metro

Totallly Bundle Movie, liked one single dialog "This big metro city gives us a lot but in returns it charges us even more".

And thats it for now. Have fun.

Cheers !

Is It ??

First year of Engineering..

I came from a very small town to a big city and big engineering college. Got to meet so many new people out there. New relations started prospering. Roommates, Floormates, Class friends, Hostel friends, Best friends, TT/Badminton friends, Mass bunk friends, Seniors ..

Me and my best friend, we were having best of times together.

Few of our seniors, we always look up to them as our inspiration as we used to see them doing masti all the time :) They were all so very talented. Full of enthusiasm. Full of life. They were our role models. I will say, they were the achievers. We started following their footmarks. We were all good at studies, we particiapted in each possible game/atheltics/music evenings etc., got the earliest jobs through campus interviews.

All got well settled in life. Stayed in touch for initial few years. Then somehow in between lost the touch..

After years, few days back i got the call from my college time best friend. it was good talking to her..we memorized all the good time. then she told me that she met one of our fav. seniors few days back..n I was so happy to hear that..I asked her how is he doing..N she replied

"Life Defeats Everyone"..

And then she hung up. N this line kept making circles in my mind..Is it true..?

I started raising this question to myself again n again. And yes, I didnt get a prompt reply.

But after long hrs of thinking sessions, finally my Strength and Courage spoke up n they told me.. "No Not yet.."

And I am happy about it..!!

I wish, "the hope"... may she lives long for everyone !!

Allah tero naam ishwar tero naam sabko sanmati de bhagwan

Choo Lene do nazuk hothon ko..kuchh aur nahin hai zaam hai yekudrat ne jo humko bhaksha hai..woh sabse hasin inaam hai ye..

Man re tu kaahe na dheer dhare?

Main Pal do pal ka shayar hoonpal do pal meri kahani hai
pal do pal meri hasti hai pal do pal meri zawani hai..

Paanv chho lene do phoolon ko inayat hogi..warna humko hi nahin..inko bhi shikayat hogi..

Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaye To Kya Hai

And then

Bichade sabhi baari baari...

Bichade sabhi.... baari

baari !!

Rememberance of my dad narrating me Sahir's life stories while listening to these songs takes me lonnnnnnng back..!!

"Aao ki koi Khwaab bune kal ke vaaste
Warna ye raat aaj ke sangiin daur ki
Das legi jaan-e-dil ko kuchh aise ki jaan-e-dil
taa umr phir na koi haseen Khwaab bun sake "
